"This is probably the most homey, comfortable, delightful bookstore I have been to for a while! The building is really big, five floors full of books. Despite having mostly Dutch books (because, duh), the English section is huge and well-stocked (they have Happy Place by Emily Henry on the release date) and they also have books in other languages like French or Spanish. But what I love most about this bookstore is how comfortable I feel in it: there are many sitting places, with ridiculously comfortable armchairs. Not to mention the coffee shop with its excellent drinks. The staff are very helpful and lovely!! I would come back here if I happen to be in Amsterdam again."

"I happened to pass by this shop and accidentally walked in absolutely not realising it was a bookshop.This is what second hand bookshops should look like. Just tons of books stacked so high you start feeling dizzy. I reckon the building is as old as some of its books.The only thing this place is missing is a cat. It could do with a cat. It is still a great place without one, but a cat would be like a rug that ties the room together."

If you need a book that is not in stock she will order it straight away. And she knows many books herself (especially those referring to International Law as she studied it herself). "Fantastic store with a terrific range of books.The people who work at Zwart op Wit are all big readers whom you can ask for advice anytime! Their expertises range from the classics to the newest Booktok bestsellers. Moreover, this store's section of English literature is pretty extensive, as is its array of magazines, children's literature, art books and gift cards.I haven't yet mentioned the store itself. Feast your eyes on the colorful 80s shop exterior and the cozy display of books inside. It's lovely to just walk in and have a look around."
