1. The Elliott Bay Book Company
"This bookstore is amazing! My son and I went twice in the same day, because we had an appointment nearby, and we don't even live in Seattle! We spent a few hours here, and bought multiple books. We are already planning our next trip to Seattle specifically to visit this bookstore again."

2. University Book Store
"I grew up visiting this sci-fi fantasy section (although it's moved downstairs). It's well curated with staff recommendations like at Powell's. Lots of signed copies. They often host local author talks of notable authors. Lots of cute college book store merch too! Parking is free under two hours."

3. Barnes & Noble
"I know, it's a chain but bookstores are dying out so I have to support the selling of books anyway I can. This particular store has gotten a facelift, no more music section in the back. The upstairs still has a warm and inviting Kid's Books area, I love it. There are comfy chairs throughout the store. Yes, the tables at the coffee shop aren't sizable for studying but it's nice to have this area. I π books!"

4. Kinokuniya Seattle
"Conveniently inside/next to the Uwajimaya grocery store. The interior was a bit small and crowded, which make it somewhat hard to walk through since there were so many people there that day. This Kinokuniya location hasnβt had sonny angels in stock for a while, or so Iβve heard, so if you are going there in pursuit for sonny angels they might not have them for a while. They did have smiskis though, and a wide range and selection of other goodies and products. Staff was very nice and friendly."

"The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bookstore has an incredibly varied collection of books. Easy to navigate and find whatever genre you're looking for. They were fairly priced for what I saw. The cats were very adorable and friendly! I would definitely recommend the place. Go out there and support this place!"

6. Third Place Books Ravenna
"Smaller than their flagship store in Lake Forest Park, this store still has a lot going for it including the cafe in the back.I love that they have both new and used books, a website that works well, and a robust hold and pickup system. At the holidays (and maybe all year, though I haven't asked), they do complimentary gift wrapping. So glad they're part off the Seattle community!"

7. Third Place Books Seward Park
"Oh Third Place Books- Seward Park location is lovely. I always seem to blow my book budget just in the staff recommendations area. This trip I came across the Project 562, about the federally recognized Tribes. I have it on hold at the library, but in person it is stunning. After debating with myself, I couldn't resist. In buying it, I support a local bookseller but also a local author and get to take this incredible book home instead of having to rush through the library copy. My picture won't do it justice. Seek out this book, support local."

"Beautiful selections of every genre you can imagine, the medieval music playing and the very friendly and helpful staff were the cherry on top. They didn't get annoyed when I asked for help four times, and when you ask if they have a specific book and it's available they somehow manage to get it to you in less than a minute! Lovely area, probably try to come by bus if you could, it's a wonderful experience "

14. Ophelia's Books
"Ophelia's is my favorite bookstore in Seattle in terms of charm. The shop is decorated with homey trinkets and full of well-loved books. They have several used books in near-perfect condition at great prices. The one thing I did notice is the space isn't very accessible- with narrow isles and a steep spiral staircase. If accessibility isn't a concern for you, I recommend checking this place out!"
